The Africa Center of Excellence (ACE) Organized Country Review Workshop

The Africa Center of Excellence (ACE) Organized Country Review Workshop which was attended by members across the country.

The meeting reviewed all activities carried out by all the Centres, particularly in the last 6 months, challenges and propose strategies for efficient implementation. The workshop also discussed in detail the modalities of the 11th Regional workshop.

Modalities towards the celebration of Ghana's ACEs @ 10 proposed for the last week of May was also discussed.

Key challenges from centres that require urgent attention from the NFU was addressed

The Director General of Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai in his opening remarks said:

In the past half-year, each of the nine ACE centers has demonstrated unwavering commitment and dedication to advancing excellence in education, research, and innovation across the African continent. From sustainable agriculture to healthcare advancement, from STEM education to massive infrastructural improvement at our centers, the breadth and depth of our collective endeavors have been truly inspiring.

Centers have spearheaded groundbreaking research initiatives aimed at ensuring food security and sustainable agricultural practices, laying the foundation for enhanced livelihoods and economic prosperity in our communities through the centers. Our centers have also been at the forefront of empowering the next generation of scientist, engineers, and innovators through transformative STEM education programs, nurturing a pipeline of talent critical for Africa’s development.

The collaborative efforts between centers and industry partners have yielded remarkable strides in addressing pressing healthcare challenges whiles being instrumental in driving innovation in renewable energy technology and environmental sustainability, paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future for engineers and innovators through transformative STEM education programs, nurturing a pipeline of talent critical for Ghana’s development.

As we celebrate these achievements, we must also turn our attention to the upcoming 10th anniversary celebration of the ACE project, a milestone that signifies a decade of collaboration, innovation, and impact. It is important to have a dispassionate dialogue on the modalities that need to be put in place for the hosting of this momentous occasion, underscoring its pivotal role in driving Africa’s transformation agenda. The organization of the anniversary celebration presents us with a unique opportunity to reflect on our journey thus far, celebrate our successes, and chart a course for the future.
